Promotion of Appaloosa sires using their distance capable offspring is the purpose of the futurity established in 1986. Youngsters are nominated as yearlings or 2-yr-olds building the payback till fully paid up at age 5.

For future distance competitions offspring of nominated ApHC stallions may enter on a sliding scale of payments up to age 4. The futurity for competitive is then held at age 5 with endurance to be run in the fall of the 6th year. Jackpotted payback is made to winners and the sires of 1st place. Special provisions allow prospective futurity colt owners to nominate the sires themselves up through the colt's 2nd year.

At the present time donated stallion services are offered for a reduced fee.
